1 John 3

In 1 John 3, we’re reminded of the incredible love God has lavished on us by calling us His children. And if we truly belong to God’s family, there should be a growing “family resemblance” in our lives. Followers of Jesus won’t live comfortably in habitual sin, but instead will increasingly pursue holiness, repentance, and obedience as the Holy Spirit transforms them. John also challenges us to love people the way Jesus loved us—with sacrifice, compassion, and action, not just words. Finally, because of what Christ has done, we no longer have to approach God with shame and fear, but with confidence, freedom, and rest as beloved sons and daughters of the Father.
