What's Happening

In April 2026, at the Wisconsin/Northern Michigan Assemblies of God Network Summit, our Former Lead Pastor Kevin Taylor was elected as the new Network Superintendent. Pastor Joelene stepped into this role alongside him to lead together.

As they've stepped into this new calling, Journey has begun walking through a leadership transition. We are prayerfully pursuing God's choice for our next Lead Pastor.

Journey has nearly a 100-year history, and a change in leadership is not new to us. God has been faithful through every transition, and we trust Him through this one too.

Transition Pastor

We are grateful for our friendships and leaders at the highest levels of the Assemblies of God, who endorsed our decision to engage Legacy Transition Group, a decision our former Lead Pastors, Kevin and Joelene Taylor, have affirmed as well.

Legacy, led by Dr. Ron McManus, an ordained Assembly of God minister and former lead pastor with over 25 years of experience helping churches navigate this process, is helping to position us well for new leadership. Legacy will partner with the Board on a nationwide search to bring a candidate before our members for a vote.

Joining us Dr. Mike Robertson, also part of Legacy’s Transition Team. He will be present for staff and congregational needs at the direction of our Board.

 There's no defined timeline, and we're not going to rush something this important.

Legacy Transition Group Pastor

Pastor Mike Robertson brings decades of pastoral and organizational leadership experience. He and his wife, Karen, served as Lead Pastor for over twenty years across churches in Texas and California, and he has preached and taught internationally, authoring several books along the way. Mike also served as Vice President at Southwestern University. He holds a BA from Southwestern Assemblies of God University, an MDiv from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, pursued doctoral studies at Fuller Theological Seminary, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in finance.

At the 2026 Assemblies of God Network Summit for Wisconsin/Northern Michigan, Former Lead Pastor Kevin was elected as the new Network Superintendent. Pastor Joelene will be stepping into this role alongside him. They have been praying about this for a long time and believe deeply that this is where God is leading them. The Journey Board and pastoral leadership team affirms the call of God on their lives and are in full support.

The Board will take the time needed to be thorough and prayerful in guiding the transition, and they will share updates as key decisions are made.

Our Journey Church Board is made up of elected members of our church family. They will prayerfully consider candidates and bring a recommendation to the church members for a vote. Our goal is not merely to hire a leader, but to prayerfully discern whom God is calling to shepherd Journey Church. Throughout this process, we seek unity, wisdom, humility, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. We've put together a document that lays out the discernment process the Board is walking through here. 

The Board will consider as many candidates as needed, then bring one recommended candidate to the church membership to vote on.

At least two weeks before the vote, we will communicate the timing through our regular channels.

A Transition Pastor carries a clear and simple calling: to shepherd our church family with wisdom, peace, and spiritual clarity through this transition, help us step into what God has next, and prepare our congregation for the road ahead. A Transition Pastor is not the next Lead Pastor, nor a candidate for that role. His calling is to prepare the way, focused on the only name that matters: Jesus.

Christian Life School (CLS) is a ministry of Journey Church, and that is not changing. CLS has been a core part of Journey's mission for more than 40 years, and we see a bright future ahead. The next lead pastor will continue to provide oversight of CLS. We believe deeply in this school and are committed to its continued success.
